Money Making Ideas – Common Mistakes in Forum Marketing: Joining 100 Forums
If you want to make some money quickly, forum marketing is a very effective method. But you have to do it the correct way.
Are you guilty of the following common mistakes?
Eager to start, our brave newbie joins at least 100 different forums. He writes an introduction, saying no more than “Hello”; he adds his affiliate link in the signature, but never returns to any of the forums on which he has posted.
Needless to say that, if Mr. Newbie does make a sale, it’s simply more than an act of money changing hands… it’s a miracle!
This is a common mistake that is often seen at the present time. Since I follow different forums myself, it quickly becomes obvious who actually joins the forum to be active, and who is only stopping by – almost ready to be on their way to the next forum, before they can hit <Send> for their first post.
You probably already know it: This is not the correct way to do forum marketing. But what should you do instead?
Check Out the Possibilities
Do searches for your keyword and particular forum to find those which are relevant.
Then pay them all a visit.
You should especially look for activity; how many people are active; when the newest post has been written etc.
Forum marketing takes work, so it’s of no use to you to join a forum where people only stop by once every three months. Choose a forum which is active.
Look at the content of the posts. Are they informative? Or spammy? Are people friendly and respectful towards one another? If not, leave immediately and find another forum.
Decide on a Few Different Forums
When you’ve done your market research, it’s time to join a few forums. Decide on a number between one and five, dependent on the activity on the forums and your own activity level.
Develop a Daily Routine
You have to follow up on your posts. People will answer you, and they will want to receive a response from you.
Therefore, it’s important to make it a daily routine to visit your chosen forums. This will show people that you care about the time they spend on answering your questions, or giving you feedback.
Don’t spend your day on the forum, though. This would be a waste of time. Some forums will even punish you with a ban if you “bump” your threads by answering people every time a new person writes a comment.
