"Updates on Flick debacle": There is still no clear idea of what Flickr will decide with 3arabawy‘s account (see the previous pictures on this page). Two things are clear: 1.activism for social justice needs some open space to its struggle. 2. Flickr and other "social" networks are only big companies. They deal with photography and a social creativity as they would deal with any commodity. Markets and profits. Make politics as far as it makes money. Is social change rentable? How long will it be rentable for Flickr?
One thing is sure: the struggle here in Egypt and elsewhere goes on. Other alternative to Flickr exist and the day Flickr will be emptied of the creativity and the energy of protest… when only pseudo fashion pix will remain: the game will be over here. And the mediators will scream on the respect of the rules, they would have lost the game. Energy, creativity, the things that make the world of today and tomorrow will be away from them. The change they believed just had passed through their eyes. And "social" profits would have moved further! The struggle goes on… until the victory!
