Money Making Ideas – Asking the Wrong Questions on the Forum Could Cost You Dearly
Money Making Ideas – Are You Asking the Wrong Questions on the Forum?
You’ve probably heard the saying: “There are no stupid questions. Only stupid answers.”
Yes, that may be, but there are definitely wrong questions. And these could cost you dearly.
Do you know how to spot them, in order to avoid asking them?
If I hadn’t come across this question and queried it myself, I would never have believed it.
Actually, there was nothing wrong with the question. It was something else entirely, and I’ll tell you about that in a moment.
The question was this:
“I have just purchased two sites; one a membership site, and the other an AdSense site. I would like to know what you think, and how can I improve traffic to the AdSense site.”
As I said, nothing wrong with the question. Except that one of the sites was a “I’ll tell you everything about how to get traffic” sites.
So, by asking such a question, you actually reveal that your site about obtaining traffic is virtually worthless. Yes, that’s honest, but probably not the message you want to convey to your audience.
A group of other incorrect questions to ask consists of the generic questions, such as “which browser is the best?” or “how can I make money without investing?”. These questions are seen all the time on forums, but are rarely followed by anything interesting in the threads. Therefore, if you want to stand out, you’d better write content that the reader finds informative.
Then there’s the typical newbie way of asking a question. Have you ever seen headlines like this? “Help!”. Or even “Help, please!”.
With what?
Busy people will bypass such a post. They will not be able to tell from the headline, exactly what the question is about. So, not knowing beforehand whether they can answer it or not (or can profit from someone else’s answer to the question) they move on
In reality – there is no question. Just a cry for help.
Tell people, in as much detail as possible, that which you want to ask about in your headline. In this way, you’ll receive more qualified answers – and many more views of the following threads.
Finally, questions such as: “Tell me all you know about ‘x’”, will never work.
People expect you to do some work yourself; not to enter the forum and have others do the work for you.
The average forum participant will not want to write long posts to answer such a vague question, in order to save you from doing some research yourself.
Find out the basics on your own, and then ask about the details on the forum.
